Lamers Media Consulting & Production came up with the idea for this project, but essentially it's a family affair. The team consists of Jan Lamers (54) and his daughter Helena Lamers (24). He'll be writing and filming, she'll make photographs. Together, for three months, they intend to make a multimedia record of anything and everything to do with immigration and the multicultural society in Canada. More than 25 years ago Jan Lamers was involved in different aspects of the movie business and familiarized himself with film techniques. He had to put these activities on hold while, first as a consultant to the Flemish Prime Minister and later as executive director at De Financieel-Economische TIJD, he pursued other, quite different interests. With this project he would like to renew his love affair with moving pictures, though he'll be using digital video technology rather than the old 8 and 16 mm camera he used to brandish. Helena Lamers is the quick-witted smart kid who has the technical know-how as well as the unfailing intuition. She's taking time off from het commercial activities in order to accompany her father on this unusual journey. Het social skills and ability to communicate will undoubtedly help us to meet the right people to talk to in order to find out all there is to know about what we set out to discover: how come Canada seems to be coping so much better than Europe with the the inherent problems of managing a real multicultural society. It goes without saying that we wouldn't be able to carry all aspects of this multimedia project. Without Bruno, Stijn (BitFactory), Ward and Wim (BittenBy.COM), who created and maintain this website, the forum and the database, and without Anne Baudouin, who takes care of the English translations, this important, interactive part of our project would not have been viable. resume Jan Lamers. resume Helena Lamers. |
